TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Head Coach Danny Manning announced the signing of 6’8”, 215-pound high school forward Terakeyi “TK” Edogi (Tare-e-kay E-do-gee) Thursday for the 2013-14 season.

Edogi is a power forward from Surprise, Ariz., who played high school ball at Valley Vista High School before playing last season at Westwind Prep in Arizona. He also played for two seasons with the Arizona Magic AAU club.

“TK is a big, athletic forward with a great motor,” Manning said. “He plays with a lot of energy, is an active defender, and he will provide us more depth on the inside. He has developed immensely as a basketball player under coaches Kenny Mullins, Gabe Stevens and Adrion Orona. He is a great young man, and we look forward to having him here at TU. He has a wonderful family that is very supportive. TU fans will fall in love with his infectious smile and personality.”

As a high school senior, Edogi was a first-team All-Section 3 and an honorable mention all-state selection. He averaged 15.4 points, 14.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 19 contests his senior season at Valley Vista, and led the state in rebounding.

Mullins, his AAU coach, said Edogi has reach longer than seven feet and “plays more like a 6’10” guy because of that reach.”

“He is a high-energy, tough, physical, in-the-paint presence guy,” Mullins said. “He dunks the ball a lot, and is a big, athletic forward that has a really good game presence. When he brings the energy like he did this spring, he can be a real factor in the game. He kind of learned the game late, and that extra year of high school helped him mature. I think that was huge for him. He is a great kid. He’s a fun-loving, jovial kid, and he has a great attitude on life. He has a really good family. It’s been fun coaching him.”

Edogi joins Tulsa’s incoming 2013-14 class that includes 6’4”, 210-pound junior college guard Marquel Curtis, 6’10”, 225-pound junior college forward Lew Evans, 6’5”, 185-pound prep school guard Stevie Repichowski, 6’11”, 275-pound high school forward Emmanuel Ezechinonso and 6’8” high school forward Riley Kemmer.
