PHILADELPHIA (AP) - San Diego State plays Oklahoma on Friday in the South Regional with the Sooners' Lon Kruger becoming the first coach in Division I history to lead five different programs to the NCAA tournament.
Oklahoma (20-11) is seeded 10th in the South after losing in the Big 12 Conference tournament quarterfinals. Kruger also coached Kansas state, Florida, Illinois and UNLV where he coached against San Diego State coach Steve Fisher.
This is Sooners' first tournament berth in four years and 27th overall.
The seventh-seeded Aztecs (22-10) are making their ninth NCAA appearance as an at-large team out of the Mountain West Conference. They won their first tournament game in 2011 when they advanced to the round of 16 before losing to Connecticut.
