DALLAS (AP) - Buddy Hield scored 19 points as Oklahoma pulled away in the final six minutes to defeat Alabama 82-73 on Friday at American Airlines Center.
Ryan Spangler had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Sooners and Cameron Clark added 14.
Algie Key, a junior college transfer playing his first game for the Crimson Tide, led Alabama with 20 points. Retin Obasohan added 14 and Trevor Releford had 12.
Oklahoma clung to a 67-66 lead with 5:20 to play when the Sooners ran off ten consecutive points to pull ahead 77-67 with 1:07 to play.
Spangler, a sophomore, was playing his first game for the Sooners. The Oklahoma native played one season at Gonzaga.
Alabama shot 56.7 percent in the first half but only 38.7 percent in the second half. The Tide hit only three of 15 3-point attempts. Oklahoma shot 44.4 percent, hitting 7-of-21 3-pointers.
