STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Marcus Smart bypassed the NBA draft after last season to help Oklahoma State atone for a shocking early exit from the NCAA tournament.

The preseason All-American also wanted to take the time to improve his outside shooting, the efforts of which were on full display in the No. 7 Cowboys' 101-80 win over No. 11 Memphis on Tuesday night.

Smart scored a career-high 39 points in the Oklahoma State (4-0) win, also connecting on a career-best 5 of 10 3-pointers to go along with his five steals, four rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocks.

After shooting just 40.4 percent overall last season, 29 percent on 3-pointers, Smart is now shooting 45.1 percent this season - 38.5 percent from behind the arc.
