STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowboys will launch their 2014 football season with a neutral field game against the Florida State Seminoles in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The prime time game will be played on Aug. 30.
The Cowboys and Seminoles will be meeting for just the fifth time with Florida State holding a 3-1 series advantage. The schools last played in the 1985 Gator Bowl. They haven’t met in a regular season matchup since the Seminoles visited Stillwater in 1978.
The game will also mark the first time that Oklahoma State has faced an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference. While OSU has faced several current members of the ACC, none have taken place while those schools held ACC membership.
The Florida State game continues a recent OSU tradition of intersectional non-conference matchups. Since 2007, OSU has had home-and-home series with Georgia and Washington State. The Cowboys will face Mississippi State in their 2013 season opener in Houston as part of the Texas Kickoff Classic.
