It's time to make some picks!!!

I made the Mountaineer mascot take a picture with me before the OSU game. He might not have been smiling if it were after the OSU game. I don't think he'll be too happy after the OU game this weekend either.

I know. I know. I have been slacking on my picks blog. Don't be mad at me. It was actually a favor to you. If you used my picks to win accolades from your friends or money from Las Vegas casinos, you might have been severely disappointed.

Actually, I'm pretty salty at picking games. And by "pretty salty," I mean slightly above .500 ... very slightly.

So here are my picks for the local teams:

UCF at Tulsa
This is a big one. The winner clinches its division title and almost assuredly home field in the C-USA title game. The Hurricane is favored by three points, and I do expect a pretty close one. TU has won 17 of its last 18 conference games. That's pretty impressive, but, I hate to say it, I'm going with UCF here. The two teams seem very evenly matched. I'm basing my prediction only on the fact the Knights kept it close against Ohio State and Missouri, which is somewhat impressive.

#23 Texas Tech at #24 OSU
OSU is getting lots of respect from the odds-makers. The Cowboys are favored by 10.5 points against a team that's actually ranked one spot higher in the BCS rankings (Tech is #23. OSU is #24.). These two teams conference outcomes actually look pretty similar, but the Pokes were much more impressive in wins over ISU and TCU than the Red Raiders were (OSU won those two games by a combined 43 points. Tech won by a combined 14 points). I'm going with the Cowboys. I think it will be very close to the number, but I say OSU covers.

#12 OU at West Virginia
What a difference a month or two makes in this one. Going into the season, this was one of the premiere match-ups in the Big 12, and even in the first month of the season it was looking awfully good. Both teams have been ranked in the top five at some point in the season. OU is still looking good at #12. West Virginia is nowhere to be found in any of the rankings. You can thank a four-game losing streak for that. Three of the four losses were by 21 points or more too. Given that, I say OU covers the 11-point spread.

Well, there ya go! My picks column is back! I hope you got some use out of it. Hopefully, I'm on point (unless you're a TU fan). Or if I'm not, read the blog again Sunday for a laugh.
