Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - The University of Montana is bringing back head football coach Mick Delaney for the 2014 season after he led the Grizzlies back to the FCS playoffs this season.

Delaney was completing a two-year contract this season. His new deal, pending approval by the Montana Board of Regents, would run through Jan. 31, 2015.

"It's such a humbling experience, and the day before Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for," said Delaney, who notified his team about the year- long extension following its morning practice. "Where I am at in my career, and to be able to stay at the University of Montana one more year, is just almost unbelievable."

Delaney's two-year record at Montana is 15-8, including 10-2 this season. The Grizzlies are seeded eighth for the playoffs, and after a first-round bye, they will play either Bethune-Cookman or Coastal Carolina in the second round on Dec. 7.

Delaney will turn 71 on Tuesday. He is in his 29th season of coaching at the college level, and has been in the coaching profession for more than 40 years.
