Chris Harris Jr. used to star on the football field for Bixby, now the Denver Bronco defensive back is two days away from the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately for Chris, he won't be playing in the Super Bowl. The Broncos starter hurt his knee in the divisional playoff round against the San Diego Chargers. Harris is in New Jersey waiting to watch his Bronco's take on the Seattle Seahawks. He told FOX23, standing on the sideline will be fun, even though he won't be able to play any snaps.
"It's going to be really cool.," Harris said, "Kind of bittersweet knowing I can't be on the game but hopefully we will get this win and the ring."
Harris helped lead the Bixby Spartans to a district title in 2006. With the Broncos, Harris played a big roll in getting them to the Super Bowl. This season, he tallied 65 tackles, three interceptions and 13 pass deflections. Harris told FOX23, even without him on the field, the Broncos are clicking at the right time.
"The guys are motivated to get us here. They've been takling about Seattle's defense and not ours. So they want to go out there and prove the nation wrong."
Once Harris returns from the Super Bowl, he will undergo knee surgery, and get himself ready for next season.
"Hopefully next year I'll be able to play in the game."
