Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Fire announced Tuesday that the club has signed Ecuadorian striker Juan Luis Anangono.

Anangono joins the Fire on a Designated Player contract and will be added to the club's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.

"Juan Luis is a young, up-and-coming goal scorer who is technically gifted and can hold the ball well," said Fire President of Soccer Operations Javier Leon. "He provides us with attacking options and will bolster our squad, not only for the second half of the season, but for the future."

The 24-year-old came up through the youth system of Ecuadorian club Barcelona SC before making the switch to Nacional in 2011. He managed 30 goals in 72 appearances for the club before his loan switch to Argentinos Juniors, where he scored five goals in 32 matches.

Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
