St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Hours before Thursday's season opener, the Minnesota Wild locked up Jason Pominville for the long term, signing the forward to a five-year contract extension.

Pominville, 30, registered four goals and five assists in 10 games with the Wild after being acquired from Buffalo at the trade deadline last season.

Selected by the Sabres in the second round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the Quebec native has totaled 189 goals and 276 assists in 588 career games.
