Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Chiefs were awarded wide receiver Kyle Williams off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.
Williams, who began the season as a starter with the Niners due to a rash of injuries, was waived by San Francisco on Tuesday. The fourth-year pro had nine catches totaling 87 yards over the first three games of 2013, but had managed just three receptions for 26 yards through the 49ers' last six outings.
The 25-year-old also served as San Francisco's primary punt returner and has averaged 8.1 yards on 21 runbacks in that role for his career. Williams added 28 kick returns for 673 yards during his time with the Niners.
Kansas City waived wideout Chad Hall in a corresponding move. The former Air Force standout had only one catch in seven games for the Chiefs this season.
