Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Kobe Bryant severely sprained his left ankle in the final seconds of Wednesday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks and will be out indefinitely, according to the Lakers.

Bryant tried to tie the game on a baseline jumper when he came down on Dahntay Jones' foot. The 15-time All-Star missed the shot and fell to the court in pain. He walked off the court under his own power. X-rays were negative.

"That's a shot I'm very comfortable taking," Bryant said. "You just can't go under these shooters, man. It's a dangerous play."

Bryant had 31 points before exiting the team's 96-92 loss.
