Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals acquired pitcher Ervin Santana along with cash considerations from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for pitcher Brandon Sisk.

The Angels exercised the $13 million option on Santana's contract before dealing him.

The 29-year-old righty is coming off a disappointing 2012 campaign, finishing 9-13 with a 5.16 ERA over 30 starts, but went 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA over the final two months of the regular season. Santana has spent his entire career with Los Angeles, posting a 96-80 record overall, good for the seventh most wins on the Angels' all-time list.

Perhaps the greatest accolade of his eight-year career occurred on July 27, 2011, when he tossed the eighth no-hitter in Angels' history against the Cleveland Indians.

Sisk, who pitched with Triple-A Omaha in 2012, will head to Los Angeles in the deal. He posted a 3-2 record and recorded eight saves while pitching to a 2.54 ERA in 50 appearances. He has never appeared in a major league game.
