A's acquire Resop from Pirates

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics acquired right-handed pitcher Chris Resop from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Zach Thornton.

The 30-year-old Resop went 1-4 with a 3.91 ERA and one save in 61 games with the Pirates last season.

Thornton went 4-0 with 16 saves and a 4.53 ERA in 48 relief appearances for Single-A Stockton of the California League.
