Recap: Miami vs. Philadelphia

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Phillies' playoff run is over.

Carlos Lee's RBI single in the ninth inning gave the Miami Marlins a 2-1 win over Philadelphia in the opener of a three-game set on Friday.

Josh Lindblom (3-4) was on the mound to start the inning and Bryan Petersen doubled down the right field line to begin the inning. After a groundout by Jose Reyes, Giancarlo Stanton was issued a free pass. Lee then punched a single to left and Petersen easily scored.

Philadelphia had won five straight NL East crowns coming into the season. While that was no longer a possibility, the team was still mathematically alive for the postseason.

The loss, though, guarantees that the team will not be playing in the postseason for the first time since 2006.

"It's clearly disappointing because that's not what we wanted coming into the season," said Philadelphia starter Cliff Lee. "We expected to win this division and go to the World Series, but that's not happening now."

Stanton blasted a monster home run in the fourth inning while Steve Cishek (5-2) got the win for pitching a scoreless ninth for the Marlins, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.

"Whenever you get a win it feels good," said Lee. "You know, we haven't had a good season here, but we want to finish strong and we'll come out every night and fight."

Jimmy Rollins drove in the lone run of the game for the Phillies, who have lost five of six to fall back below .500.

Neither starter factored into the decision despite both pitching well. Lee gave up one run on three hits with five strikeouts over seven innings for the Phils while Mark Buehrle was charged with one run on six hits and eight strikeouts in eight innings. Neither pitcher issued a walk.

The Phils threatened in the second, but came away empty. With one out, Ty Wigginton singled and Darin Ruf followed with a base hit. After John Mayberry struck out, Michael Martinez beat out an infield single, but Wigginton took a big turn around third and was caught off the bag to end the frame.

Miami got on the board with two outs in the fourth, as Stanton blasted a long shot over the wall in left for his 35th home run of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Buehrle retired 14 batters in a row until Wigginton singled with two outs in the seventh, and the Phillies finally got on the board in the eighth.

Mayberry doubled to start the inning and moved to third on a Martinez groundout. After pinch-hitter Erik Kratz popped out, Rollins lined a single to left to tie the game.

Game Notes

The season series is tied at eight games each ... Lee retired the final 10 batters he faced after Stanton's home run ... The Phillies need to go 3-2 over their final five games to keep from having a losing season for the first time since 2002 when they went 80-81 ... Buehrle has pitched at least 200 innings in 12 straight seasons.
