Rays ink Scott to 1-year deal

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays signed designated hitter Luke Scott to a one-year deal, the team announced on Wednesday.

Scott will earn a base salary of $2.75 million in 2013. In 96 games during the 2012 season, Scott batted .229 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI and 22 doubles.

Over eight seasons in the majors with the Astros (2005-07), Orioles (2008-11) and Rays, Scott has a .260 average with 126 homers and 396 RBI.
