Mets sign Hawkins to minor league deal

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets signed pitcher LaTroy Hawkins to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training on Thursday.

The 40-year-old right-hander went 2-3 with a 3.64 ERA over 42 innings pitched with the Angels last season.

Over the course of his 18-year career with the Twins, Cubs, Giants, Orioles, Rockies, Yankees, Astros, Brewers and Angels, Hawkins has gone 65-88 with a 4.45 ERA.
