Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles have claimed catcher Luis Martinez off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
Martinez appeared in 10 games for Texas last season and batted .111. He hit .270 in 65 games for Triple-A Round Rock.
The 27-year-old veteran hit .203 with a homer and 10 RBI in 22 games for San Diego in 2011. He is a career .272 hitter in six minor league seasons.
