High schools: Cortes powers Tigers past Norman North

Noah Cortes delivered the fourth-highest rushing yardage performance in Broken Arrow history during a Class 6AI playoff opener Friday night.

Cortes had 40 carries for 305 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the fourth-ranked Tigers past No. 5 Norman North 31-28 at Memorial Stadium.

"I'll take Noah over anybody in the state," Broken Arrow coach David Alexander said. "Was he perfect? No. But what a tough, tough individual."

Broken Arrow (7-4) which has won seven of its past eight games, advances to meet No. 1 Union in the semifinals next weekend with the time and place to be determined. Union defeated Broken Arrow 26-15 in a season opener.
