• High schools: Corbin Daniels leads Dutch to district title

With Holland Hall near its own goal line and clinging to a six-point lead with the District 2A-7 title at stake midway through the fourth quarter Friday night, there was no doubt who Dutch coach Tag Gross wanted to have with the ball.

"I think Corbin Daniels is the best player in the state," Gross said.

And Daniels also wanted to be involved in the second-down play from the Dutch 6.

"I had been asking for the ball the whole game," Daniels said.

Freshman quarterback Wallace Clark then launched a bomb that Daniels caught near midfield, slipped a tackle and raced down the left sideline for a 94-yard touchdown catch that ensured the third-ranked Dutch's 35-21 win over No. 2 Victory Christian in a matchup of undefeated teams at Victory Stadium.
