Recap: William & Mary vs. James Madison

Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paced by 20 points from Marcus Thornton, the William & Mary Tribe made easy work of the James Madison Dukes, 78-56, in Colonial Athletic Association action at Kaplan Arena.

Thornton shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range for W&M (10-6, 2-1 CAA), which has won four of its last five. Tim Rusthoven chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds for the home team, while Brandon Britt came off the bench to score 12.

For JMU (6-13, 1-4), losers of four straight, Andre Nation posted a game-high 25 points on 9-of-16 from the floor to go with five steals, five rebounds and four assists. Ron Curry added 14 points in the losing effort.

W&M set the tone early by shooting a blistering 70.8 percent from the field in the first half. JMU shot just 33.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes, and the Tribe carried a 42-24 lead into intermission.

The Dukes brought their deficit to 14 with under seven minutes to play, but the Tribe put the game away for good by ripping off eight unanswered points.

W&M shot 10-of-20 from beyond the arc on the afternoon, while JMU was just 5- of-23 from long distance. The Tribe also won the rebounding battle, 35-24.
