Recap: Pacific vs. BYU
Stockton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Gill scored 18 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Pacific Tigers posted an 89-82 win over the BYU Cougars in West Coast Conference action at the Spanos Center.
Trevin Harris and Andrew Bock both tallied 13 points, followed by Aaron Short and Khalil Kelley with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Tigers (14-10, 5-8 WCC) as they won for the third time in the last four outings.
Matt Carlino was responsible for a game-high 28 points for the Cougars (17-10, 9-5) as they had a four-game win streak snapped. Tyler Haws, who fouled out late in the contest, added 20 points, followed by Skyler Halford and Kyle Collinsworth with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
BYU opened the meeting on a 9-0 run, but the visitors shot only 41.4 percent from the floor in the first half and 10-of-17 at the free-throw line, allowing Pacific to stay close at the break, trailing by just three at 38-35.
In the second half the Tigers erupted for 62.5 percent accuracy from the field, including a staggering 7-of-9 beyond the arc, as they closed out the seven-point decision in convincing fashion.
The hosts won the battle of the boards, 41-32, and that helped them to overcome 14 turnovers on the night.Game Notes
