Recap: CS-Northridge vs. Austin Peay
Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Cal State Northridge captured their second straight narrow win in the Central Michigan Tournament, edging the Austin Peay Governors, 80-77, in overtime on Friday.
Josh Greene stole the ball and hit a layup to put the Matadors up 78-77 with 39 seconds remaining in the extra session. Travis Betran then missed a 3- pointer for Austin Peay and Stephan Hicks was fouled after grabbing the rebound for the Matadors.
Hicks sunk two free throws with 10 seconds to go, and the Matadors prevailed when Betran missed another trey.
Hicks had 24 points to lead Cal State Northridge (3-2), which topped Montana State 74-73 on Thursday.
Stephen Maxwell posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Matadors.
Betran, who finished 3-of-15 from 3-point range, and Will Triggs both scored 17 points for the Governors (2-3), who were coming off a 90-75 loss to host Central Michigan.Game Notes
