Recap: SMU vs. Houston
Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nic Moore scored 16 points to lead the SMU Mustangs to a 68-64 victory over the Houston Cougars in American Athletic Conference action from Moody Coliseum.
With the win SMU (21-6, 10-4 ACC) was able to bounce back from a 71-64 loss to Temple on Sunday, which ended a four-game winning streak.
Jherrod Stiggers netted 16 points for Houston (12-14, 4-9), which has lost seven of its last eight. TaShawn Thomas tallied 15 points and eight rebounds and Danuel House posted 15 points of his own.
Despite shooting at a 50 percent clip in the first half, SMU only led, 32-30, at intermission. Houston netted 40.9 percent from the field in the period, but kept things close by knocking down five 3-pointers.
In the second half the Mustangs cooled to 40 percent shooting, but they outscored the Cougars, 13-5, from the free-throw line to hold on.
SMU had a 41-29 edge on the glass. The Cougars outscored their hosts, 24-12, from beyond the arc.Game Notes
