Recap: Butler vs. Princeton

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kellen Dunham led the way with 26 points as the Butler Bulldogs tamed the Princeton Tigers, 70-67, in non- conference action at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

For the Bulldogs (2-0), Elijah Brown added 13 points, while Kameron Woods posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Erik Fromm chipped in with 10 points.

Denton Koon led the Tigers (1-1) with 21 points, while Hans Brase had a double-double of his own, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Butler shot 48 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, as they took a 33-31 led into intermission. They held Princeton to 42.9 percent shooting and just 4-of-13 from 3-point range.

The Tigers heated up from the field in the second half, connecting on 50 percent of their field goal tries and 4-of-7 from 3-point distance. The Bulldogs struggled from the field after halftime, making only 36 percent of their field goal attempts, including just 3-of-13 from 3-point range. Trailing by 11 with under six minutes to play, the Tigers used a late 11-2 rally to cut the Bulldog lead to just two at 69-67 with 47 seconds remaining. The Tigers then had a chance to tie it with 13 seconds left but Koon's layup try missed. After Denton made 1-of-2 free-throws to put Butler up three with four seconds to play, Princeton had one last try to send the game to overtime, but a 3-point try at the buzzer was short.

The Tigers struggled from the free throw line, missing 14 free-throws and finishing just 23-of-37. Butler did a bit better, going 19-of-26. Princeton had a slight edge on the boards, 33-30.
