Recap: Wake Forest vs. Citadel

Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Coron Williams finished with 12 points to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons over The Citadel Bulldogs, 82-54, in a non-conference tilt at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

For the Demon Deacons (5-0), Devin Thomas finished with 11 points and eight rebounds and Travis McKie added 10 points.

Brian White led all scorers with 18 points for the Bulldogs (2-4), while Matt Van Scyoc scored 12 points.

Both teams had some trouble shooting in the first half. Wake Forest shot just 36.4 percent from the field but did connect on 4-of-8 from 3-point range. The Citadel shot a somewhat better 43.5 percent from the floor, but missed all but one of its five 3-point tries. The Demon Deacons scored the final five points of the half, as they took a 34-27 lead at the break.

Wake Forest's shooters found their range in the second half, draining 51.6 percent of their field goal tries, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Citadel continued to struggle, making only 30 percent of its field goal attempts.

Wake Forest finished with a 16-0 advantage on fast break points. The Demon Deacons also dominated in the frontcourt, outscoring the Bulldogs 34-20 in the paint and outrebounding them, 45-34.
