Recap: Oregon State vs. Purdue

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Devon Collier tallied 27 points and 14 rebounds, both career highs, as the Oregon State Beavers used a late run to take down the Purdue Boilermakers, 66-58, in the third place game of the 2K Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Collier came off the bench to shoot 9-of-15 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the foul line for the Beavers (3-1). Roberto Nelson scored 10 points, and Angus Brandt narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

For Purdue (1-3), A.J. Hammons led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. D.J. Byrd put up 11 points, and Anthony Johnson chipped in with 10 points.

Oregon State took a 39-28 lead into halftime. The Beavers shot a modest 41.2 percent from the floor in the frame, while Purdue managed to make just 31.3 percent of its field goal attempts in the first 20 minutes.

The Beavers extended their lead to 15 early in the second half, but Purdue chipped away down the stretch and it eventually tied the game, 56-56, with 2:17 left on a pair of Hammons free throws. Oregon State answered by scoring 10 of the last 12 points of the game to seal its fate.

Oregon State outrebounded Purdue, 47 to 36, which helped negate a game-high 17 turnovers.
