Recap: North Dakota vs. UMKC
Grand Forks, ND (Sports Network) - A pair of free throws by Estan Tyler in the final seconds were key in securing a 73-70 victory for the UMKC Kangaroos over North Dakota at the Sioux Center.
Tyler contributed 12 points as Nate Rogers accounted for a team-high 16 points for the Kangaroos (4-4). Fred Chatmon recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards, while Thomas Staton and Nelson Kirksey added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
For North Dakota (1-5), Jamal Webb recorded a game-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor. Aaron Anderson and Josh Schuler finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Each team hit 4-of-8 from behind the arc in the first half. North Dakota struggled at the free-throw line however, making only 7-of-16, leading to a 37-33 UMKC advantage at the break.
UMKC managed to hold North Dakota to 2-of-8 from three-point range in the last 20 minutes of play. The hosts didn't do themselves any favors by converting just 7-of-14 at the free-throw line in the second half either.
UMKC dominated the glass, 41-28, and watched as North Dakota converted only 14-of-30 at the charity stripe overall.Game Notes
