Recap: Stanford vs. UCLA
Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Led by 25 points from Shabazz Muhammad, the UCLA Bruins held off the Stanford Cardinal, 88-80, in a Pac-12 Conference showdown at Maples Pavilion.
Jordan Adams added 20 points on 7-of-9 from the field for UCLA (19-7, 9-4 Pac-12), while Kyle Anderson tallied a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Larry Drew II chipped in 14 points and seven assists for the Bruins, who have won three of four.
For Stanford (15-11, 6-7), Dwight Powell recorded 22 points and eight rebounds, Aaron Bright scored 19 points, Chasson Randle netted 17 points, and Josh Huestis logged 11 points and 12 rebounds.
UCLA was red-hot in the first half, shooting 16-of-30 from the field and 7- of-8 from the foul line, as it took a 43-38 lead into intermission. Stanford shot less than 42 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes but managed to keep the game within striking distance by forcing the Bruins into eight turnovers.
Stanford tied the game, 58-58, with 11:35 to play on a Bright 3-pointer, but it would never overtake the lead. The Bruins continued their impressive field goal shooting in the second half (.556) as they outlasted the Cardinal.
