Recap: Georgia vs. George Washington
Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Nemanja Djurisic and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both scored 17 points as they led the Georgia Bulldogs to a 52-41 win over the George Washington Colonials in non-conference action at Stegeman Coliseum.
Caldwell-Pope also accounted for six rebounds, three assists and a couple of steals for the Bulldogs (6-7) as they won their fourth straight game. John Florveus chipped in with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Colonials (6-7) were paced by Kevin Larsen who tallied 14 points as he made good on all six of his field goal attempts, but the other four starters combined to shoot only 6-of-33 from the floor as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.
A close game throughout the first half, both teams had trouble finding the basket as Georgia made good on just 36.4 percent and the Colonials 33.3 percent, yet it was the visitors who put up a 21-18 advantage at the break as they outscored the Bulldogs in the paint, 12-6.
In the second half GW went completely cold from the floor, connecting on a mere 5-of-30 (.167), missing all 10 chances behind the 3-point line, all while the Bulldogs were hitting a sizzling 64.7 percent from the field in order to pull away for the double-digit win.
Georgia, which turned the ball over a staggering 25 times on the night, held the visitors without a 3-point basket (0-of-12) and just 24.6 percent accuracy from the field overall.Game Notes
