Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Wofford
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - J.J. Moore and Tray Woodall oth tallied 16 points as Pittsburgh easily cruised to an 81-63 win over Wofford as part of the fifth annual College Basketball Invitational at the Petersen Events Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Panthers (18-16) were Lamar Patterson with 13 points, while Ashton Gibbs and Talib Zanna both dropped in 12. Woodall, who made good on 4-of-5 shots behind the three-point line, accounted for nine assists, while Nasir Robinson pulled down a team-best 11 rebounds.
The Terriers (19-14) were paced by Drew Crowell with 16 points and eight rebounds, followed by Brad Loesing with 15 points and nine assists. In a reserve role, Lee Skinner registered a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the losing cause.
Wofford made a total of just nine field goals in the first half and shot 2- of-12 behind the three-point line as the team fell behind by a score of 42-23 at the break.
In the second half Pitt continued to pour it on with 53.3 percent accuracy from the field and 7-of-13 shooting beyond the arc in order to coast to the 18-point win at home.
The Panthers turned the ball over just six times and made good on 14-of-25 shots out on the perimeter to make up for a mere 1-of-3 showing at the free- throw line.
Pittsburgh now advances to the quarterfinal round on Monday where it will clash with the Princeton Tigers.Game Notes
