Recap: Wofford vs. Western Carolina
Asheville, NC (Sports Network) - Harouna Mutombo's 17 points paced six players in double figures as the Western Carolina Catamounts downed the Wofford Terriers 82-59 in a Southern Conference quarterfinal matchup at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Keaton Cole scored 16 points for the Catamounts (16-17), the third seed out of the SoCon's North Division. Tawaski King provided 14 points and 10 rebounds to help his team to its sixth straight win and into a semifinal game against UNC Greensboro on Sunday. Trey Sumler added 12 points, while Brandon Boggs and Preston Ross scored 11 points each.
Brad Loesing topped all scorers with 23 points for the Terriers (19-13). Lee Skinner added 12 points, while Drew Crowell provided 10 boards.
Western Carolina led 38-32 at the break after going 16-of-28 from the floor in the first half. The Terriers were just 11-of-30 from the floor, including only 2-of-12 from long range.
The Catamounts led by 17 near the midway point of the second half and the Terriers got no closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Western Carolina shot 55.8 percent from the floor for the game and was 7- of-14 from outside the arc. Wofford was trying to win the conference title for the third year in succession.Game Notes
