Recap: UC Santa Barbara vs. Pacific
Santa Barbara, CA (Sports Network) - James Nunnally finished with a season- high 28 points and added eight assists as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos used a second half surge to defeat the Pacific Tigers 76-61 in a Big West Conference bout at The Thunderdome.
Orlando Johnson also had a big game for UCSB (17-9, 11-4 Big West), tallying 24 points and nine rebounds. Jaime Serna added 10 points for the Gauchos, who have won five of their last six.
For Pacific (11-17, 6-10), Ross Rivera came off the bench to score 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. The Tigers are now losers of three of four.
Both teams shot well in the first half, with Pacific draining 50 percent of its field goals and UCSB hitting on 46.4 percent of its shots, including eight three-pointers. The teams took a 36-36 tie into halftime.
The Tigers cooled off after the break, making just 9-of-25 from the field, while the Gauchos shot an even better 60 percent from the floor in the second stanza to pull away.
UCSB won the rebounding battle, 34-25, which helped its 20-18 advantage in points in the paint.Game Notes
