Recap: Idaho State vs. Eastern Wash
Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Cliff Colimon led all scorers with 21 points as the Eastern Washington Eagles held off the Idaho State Bengals 85-78 in a Big Sky Conference bout at Reed Gym.
Parker Kelly scored 17 for Eastern Washington (13-15, 7-7 Big Sky) and Laron Griffin tallied 15 points and seven rebounds. Jeffrey Forbes added 13 points for the Eagles, who have won two of their last three.
Melvin Morgan scored 18 points Idaho State (9-18, 7-7), which has lost four of five. Andre' Hatchett recorded 17 points and nine rebounds, Kenny McGowen went for 12 points, and Abner Moreira chipped in 10 points for the Bengals.
Idaho State shot a lofty 56 percent from the field in the first half while Eastern Washington drained just 38.2 percent of its shots overall, but the Eagles connected on nine three-pointers and took a 42-39 lead into halftime.
The Eagles' field goal percentage improved to 65 percent after the break, but the Bengals hung tough by making 15-of-30 field goals in the second half. Idaho State cut the deficit to one on a Morgan layup inside of 30 seconds remaining, but Eastern Washington never relinquished the lead in the final 20 minutes.
Eastern Washington made just one three-pointer in the second half, but it went 16-of-22 from the foul line to help put the game away down the stretch.Game Notes
