Tulsa, OK – (March 4, 2008) FOX23 News was honored at the Society of Professional Journalists Banquet in Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 1.

Emily Sinovic was awarded 1st place for Investigative Reporting and 3rd place for Writing Portfolio, Anne Bassett received 1st place for Spot News Reporting, Marcus Washington received 2nd place for General Assignment Reporting and Paul Heggen was awarded 2nd place for Best Weathercast.

The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior.

Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry through the daily work of its nearly 10,000 members; works to inspire and educate current and future journalists through professional development; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press through its advocacy efforts.

FOX23 News launched the only live, local four-hour morning newscast on April 24, 2006.  FOX23’s Daybreak morning news broadcasts weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.  FOX23 also launched a one-hour noon broadcast on July 10, 2006. FOX23 offers viewer the most local coverage in the market.
