WASHINGTON (AP) — Two American soldiers were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday by gunmen wearing Afghan security uniforms, U.S. defense officials said.
The international coalition said in a brief written statement that two members of the international military coalition were shot to death by two gunmen, but it did not provide the nationalities of the dead.
The U.S. defense officials who disclosed the nationalities spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the case.
The attack appeared to be yet another in a long string of attacks on Americans and other members of the international coalition by their supposed Afghan allies.
Further details about Wednesday's attack were not immediately available.
