Brandon Nordstedt faced child abuse murder charges for killing 11-month-old Emmerson “Emmy” O’Rourke.

His trial began Monday, with opening arguments and testimony beginning Tuesday.

FOX23's Morgan Downing was in the courtroom Thursday as the prosecution called Owasso Police Lieutenant Tony Klahr.

The lead investigator in the case, Klarh gave emotional testimony. He described O'Rourke's condition when he arrived at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Klarh cried while on the stand and later said Nordstedt maintained the baby caused her own injuries by a fall a month prior or by hitting her head on her crib.

Closing statements were made early Friday evening and the jury began deliberating.

The jury returned a guilty verdict around 9 p.m. Friday. They recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.
