Man reportedly leads police on chase after stealing car from couple at Tulsa gas station

TULSA, Okla. - Quick facts:

  • A suspect is in jail after he reportedly stole a car from a couple at a downtown Tulsa gas station.
  • Police say it started when a woman was sitting in the passenger seat of her vehicle at the fuel pumps at the Quiktrip near 15th and Denver while her boyfriend was in the store paying for fuel and food around 3 a.m. Sunday.
  • Officers say a man approached the woman and asked for the help at the same time her boyfriend came out to the vehicle, but the couple declined.
  • Investigators say the suspect then pulled out a knife and said he was taking the vehicle.
  • Half an hour later, police say they saw the vehicle near 36th Street North and Harvard, and the driver led them on a chase.
  • Shane Gray was apprehended and taken into custody near Ninth and Yale, ending the chase.
  • He faces robbery and eluding charges, in addition to charges relating to a warrant out of Osage County.
  • FOX23 reached out to QuikTrip for comment, and the company said they will assist Tulsa police with surveillance video of the scene.
