As Broken Arrow continues to grow, one new development is getting closer to completion.
FOX23’s Ron Terrell went back to the Shops at Aspen Creek to see the progress they're making.
Construction crews are busy, what will be the marquee of the 18-screen Warren Theatre is now towering over the area, and it's expected to bring big business to BA.
FOX23 reported about this development in October 2012, and we were here last September as crews broke ground just south of the Creek Turnpike between Aspen and off of Tucson.
FOX23 spoke to Wes Smithwick, president and CEO of Broken Arrow Economic Development. He said this will be Warren's biggest luxury theater yet.
“Mr. Warren assures us, that this is, as he calls it, the Moore Theatre on steroids. He has a history of building bigger and better every time, and we expect this to be no different,” he said.
The Warren Theatre is slated to open in November, and developers are working to fill the rest of this property with shopping and restaurants.
“We fully expect over the next year after the Warren Theatre opens, to see multi-family units, a multi-family component to this project unfold. A hotel unfold, and numerous restaurants and retail in time unfold here,” said Smithwick.
With extra shopping will come extra traffic, something the city is already taking care of.
“The city of Broken Arrow is completing roadwork that widens both Aspen and Tucson that surround this site to five lanes, we expect that work to finish next month,” he said.
There will also be a road connecting the Shops at Aspen Creek with the Walmart Supercenter and its adjacent shopping areas just to the east.
Smithwick also told FOX23 once the Warren Theatre opens, with 100 acres to work with, the rest of the project will take a few years to be fully completed.
