Broken Arrow police say around 9:30am Friday, a homeowner shot at two men who were attempting to break into her home in the 500 block of N. Aster Ave.
Police say the woman heard a knock at the door, and peeked out a window and spotted two men she didn't know.
She spoke with FOX23’s Dontaye Carter about what happened.
"One kick to get through this door," the homeowner said.
She didn't want to be identified but the mother of two said she grabbed her gun to be prepared when two men forced their way into her home.
"When he came in he was crouched over and had his gun and he went to point the gun at me," she said.
That's when she opened fire. The pistol hasn't left her hip since she fired three shots at the burglars.
Two weeks ago, she finished her concealed carry class. She took the class because she was afraid of being defenseless.
"I think it could've had a different outcome," she added.
While looking through her peephole she heard one man say "they've got a dog." She said hearing that made her feel uneasy. So, she called police and grabbed her gun to protect herself. Broken Arrow police say she did the right thing.
“We're not going to advocate buying a firearm but we want to make sure you're taking every precaution to keep your residence secure," said Broken Arrow Police Corporal Leon Calhoun.
"I’d think they'd be smart enough to not come back," the mother of two told FOX23.
The men are described as white, in their mid-20's and wearing dark-colored sweatshirts.
Police believe the men may be driving a 90's model ford passenger vehicle with dark tinted windows and a sunroof.
