A global company working through bankruptcy is hoping a new look can help it turn the corner.
American Airlines hasn't changed the look of its airplanes in 40 years. This new design is catching eyes.
"The paint job looks nice," said one Tulsa resident.
“It looks good," said another.
"American has been through a very difficult process over the past year," said American Airlines Vice President of Base Maintenance Bill Collins.
The airline filed chapter 11 bankruptcy last year. However, for the past two years, it has been working on a new logo as it looks to emerge as a much stronger company.
“It needed a fresh start. This is the fresh start and we're very excited about it," said Collins.
FOX23’s Dontaye Carter was the first reporter to walk through one of American's new 737 jets. The plane will be in all six cities where American has maintenance hubs. It debuted in Dallas last week, and Tulsa was the first stop on the tour.
"I think it's a good start,” said Gus Sambrano. “You're in bankruptcy, you're coming out. You're trying to comeback out. You need to do new things. This could be a new start."
"Coming out and investing in real expensive stuff doesn't make since but we'll see what happens," said Chantell Henderson.
This new look won't happen overnight. American Airlines tells Dontaye it will take three to five years to transition the new look to all of the planes.
American Airlines is scheduled to fly off with the new design on Thursday.
