The Woody Guthrie Center is offering $3 off regular admission in exchange for two canned food items during the month of November.
All canned food items collected will be donated to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
“With the recent cut in food stamps and the holidays quickly approaching, we know some families might have trouble buying groceries,” said Deana McCloud, executive director at the center. “We want to keep Woody’s spirit alive by helping families in need.”
Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s mission is to feed the hungry of eastern Oklahoma through a network of Partner Programs and to engage communities in ending hunger. The food bank provides food and other donated goods to 450 Partner Programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma and provides more than 275,000 meals each week to those in need.
“We are so excited to partner with Woody Guthrie Center and encourage visitors to donate canned food items for discounted admission,” said Eileen Bradshaw, executive director of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. “We have a great need during the holidays, and these canned food donations will go a long way toward feeding hungry Oklahomans. We know that Woody Guthrie would be proud to see Oklahomans coming together to help those in need.”
The center’s hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The center is closed on Mondays. On the first Friday of each month, hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admittance is $8 for adults, $6 for youth 5 – 17 and children under 5 are admitted free.
