In a FOX23 exclusive, a convicted felon working in the Woodland Hills Mall is now behind bars.
Brandon Dobbs was booked Saturday night on drug charges, but FOX23 has learned from police fraud charges may soon follow.
The parking lot was full Saturday afternoon, Woodland Hills Mall was a madhouse. Shoppers everywhere were looking for the perfect gift. What they didn’t know, a convicted felon was working inside at “Vapor Works”.
“It makes me feel not very safe,” one shopper told FOX23.
Shoppers felt unsafe, but not shocked.
“You never know who’s working in there,” the shopper added.
Just before 5 Saturday evening, TPD and the Tulsa County Sherriff’s office went in after Brandon Dobbs.
“We got a tip from a bondsmen that he was working inside the mall,” Cpl. Brian Collum told FOX23. “He’s got a past of being armed and dangerous.”
It was not a good combination with so many people around. That’s why 4 officers and 2 deputies worked together to make the arrest.
FOX23 was the only crew there as police brought Dobbs out the doors just east of Sears.
We weren’t able to ask questions of Dobbs, but we did hear him talking to officers about his backpack.
Police say they found marijuana and pills inside, but they also found a credit card swiper.
Police believe Dobb’s may have been stealing people’s information.
Witnesses tell police when people handed Dobbs their cards “he would duck behind the counter.” “We’ve located his backpack right below the register,” Cpl. Collum said.
So now, Dobbs who was arrested on a warrant for drug charges, is under investigation for fraud.
Police say they are working to get search warrants for Dobb’s cell phone, card reader, and laptop. Once they have those they will look to see if indeed he was stealing the information.
