Tulsa Police say they are seeing new faces are robbing businesses.
The latest robbery happened Tuesday morning at the 11th and S. New Haven Fiesta Mart.
A woman tried to rob that same Fiesta Mart on April 22nd. That same night the McDonald’s near 21st and S. Sheridan was robbed when a woman flashed a BB gun and demanded cash.
"Wow, did that really just happen,” said McDonald’s Manager Chris Jones after the robbery.
Then the Fiesta Mart near 15th and Harvard was robbed by a woman.
Police are stopping short saying this is the same woman on a crime spree.
Employees inside the McDonald’s thought the woman was a regular customer until they saw what she had in her pocket.
"I see a woman pull out a gun,” said Jones.
Then the woman who is described to be heavy set with “bad teeth” demanded cash from the clerk.
“Just shot at the floor and tried to scare us,” said Jones.
Detectives say she used a BB gun but the shots had the employees dialing 911.
“I was worried because I want everyone to be safe,” said Jones.
That same night police say a masked woman held up the Fiesta Mart at 15
th and S. Harvard.
"These women are coming in armed, they are showing guns,” said TPD Robbery Sergeant Brandon Watkins.
Less than a mile away, the Fiesta Mart near 11
th and S. New Haven was robbed.
Corporate supervisors say clerks saw the woman and stopped the woman by locking the doors.
That same Fiesta Mart on 11
th Street was robbed Tuesday morning by a female bandit with a BB gun.
"It's very rare. Women are usually smarter than that. It's a caveman crime, you do something by force or fear and wave a gun around,” said Watkins.
While this is still under investigation, detectives are not calling this a one-woman crime spree. However, they say female criminals are becoming more bold.
Last week, police arrested another woman who robbed the Subway in East Tulsa.
Surveillance video showed a woman getting tased by an employee when she tried to grab money from the register.
"It hurt me because she was crying and saying 'please, help me, please let me go, I just ruined my life, my children,'” said the Subway employee.
Police say Lorna Hampton, 25, had her two-year-old and five-year-old in the car during the robbery.
"Women can get help. There are people and churches. People will help you. You don't need to take that away and threaten people's lives,” said the employee.
Police warn while there is an oddity of more women masking themselves and flashing and firing guns, the feeling of having a gun in your face is just the same.
They recommend you safely protect yourself and comply with the demands and do not try and put up a fight. Instead, call police and let them handle it.
The woman in the McDonald’s robbery is described as being heavy set, 5’5'', in her forties, and “bad teeth.”
