We have disturbing details from a domestic abuse case out of Bartlesville tonight. Police arrested a man for beating up his wife Monday night. But she's saying police have got it all wrong.
Derrick Maynard faces a domestic abuse charge for the fight that landed him in jail. It's the fourth time he's been arrested for domestic abuse against various family members.
His mug shot shows him pretty beat up. His wife said she did it-- but police say he did it to himself.
“The individual that was involved in this specific instance is well known to us. Yeah, we’ve dealt with him for years," says Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland.
Police found Maynard bruised and battered when they came to his home on a domestic abuse call Monday. His wife Angelia told FOX 23 she fought back after he pointed, and fired, an unloaded rifle at her head.
Police say he was drunk.
“Actually, it was probably the primary cause in this case. The individual had been drinking off and on for about ten hours," says Chief Holland.
Angelia says Derrick has an alcohol problem. But she said she didn't want him to go to jail. She wants him in a rehabilitation or mental health facility.
She told FOX 23 she caused most of his injuries because she's fed up with his drinking. But police think he did it to himself.

“He rammed his head into the wall. He also did it in the cage in the police car, and I’m told at the jail," says Chief Holland.
Angelia said she's not going to bail her husband out of jail because he refuses to get help. But she also says police are refusing to send him where he really needs to be-- and that's some sort of rehab.
Derrick Maynard's next court date is January third.
