A woman carjacked Tuesday afternoon is asking strangers to help track down the stolen car. She posted on Craigslist to raise awareness, hoping someone sees her car.

It happened at the Walgreens near 15th and Yale around 2 o'clock.

The victim, who wants to only go by Whitney, says she returned a movie to RedBox and was sitting her car waiting for a friend who was inside Walgreens. That's when a man jumped into her backseat and yelled at her to drive.

“I started yelling no and started climbing out of my car and he grabbed my hair,” Whitney tells FOX23 News. “So I just kept thinking get out no matter what.”

Whitney says the robber climbed into the front seat unaware her purse, with her car keys inside, had fallen beneath his feet.

“I thought, I don't want him to have my address, my keys, my everything,” Whitney recalls. “It's a keyless entry car, so as I was standing there, I was close enough, he could start the car.”

When she got out, Whitney was able to grab her purse and keys. Although the robber could drive away, she's hoping once the car was stopped, it couldn't be restarted, and may be abandoned somewhere around town.

Giving Whitney even more hope is the possibility police say it may have been a gang initiation.

“This is what they do, they have to do something in broad daylight that they could potentially be caught, I guess to prove they're worthy.”

Tulsa Police confirm Whitney did file a police report. They say detectives are reviewing video surveillance from Walgreens, but they aren’t ready to release it yet.

The car is a cream 2006 Nissan Murano. Whitney says there is a black “RN” sticker on the back, and an Apple logo sticker on the windshield. The license plate reads: 199BPS.

When my home was broken into. I turned to craigslist to describe what was stolen and they removed my post because it was violating the terms or it was flagged for being inappropriate. Anyways, good luck.
