Weather conditions lead to event cancellations

The Coweta Rotary Club has postponed the Coweta Christmas Parade from this Saturday, December 7 at 6pm to December 14 at 6pm.

Wagoner's Christmas parade, which had been planned for this week, has been postponed, due to the wintry blast expected to hit the area. The parade now will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 12.

Organizers in Sand Springs canceled the parade, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6th, due to safety concerns with an expected wintry onslaught of sleet, snow, bitter cold temperatures and extreme wind chills.

Due to the late date in the holiday season, the parade will not be held this year. Entries will be notified of the cancellation so they can notify individual participants in a timely manner. Entry fees will be refunded.

Due to impending inclement weather, the Mounds Oklahoma, 21st Annual Christmas Parade is POSTPONED until the following weekend, December 14th @ 10 a.m. weather permitting.

Due to the impending winter weather, the annual Civitan Christmas Parade has been canceled.

Due to weather, the Broken Arrow Christmas Parade has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

The University of Tulsa’s men’s and women’s home basketball games against UALR scheduled for this Saturday (Dec. 7) have been moved to Sunday due to weather conditions preventing UALR from traveling to Tulsa from Little Rock, Arkansas.

The games are now scheduled to take place this Sunday (Dec. 8) at the Donald W. Reynolds Center with a 1:00 pm start time for the women’s game and a 3:30 starting time for the men.

Fans are still encouraged to bring Teddy Bears, small and big, on Sunday for the “Teddy Bear Toss” scheduled for halftime of the men’s contest. The Teddy Bears will then be donated to the St. Francis Children’s Hospital.

Fans can purchase tickets online at or on Sunday at the Reynolds Center Athletic Ticket Office beginning 90 minutes prior to tip-off.

The Tulsa Zoo is closed to the public Friday, Dec. 6, because of inclement weather. Our dedicated animal care staff will be on grounds making sure all animals are safe and warm.

Due to weather conditions, all Tulsa City-County Library locations will be closed Friday, December 6. Normal operating hours are expected to resume on Saturday, conditions permitting.

On Friday evening, the sold-out Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award Dinner will take place, as planned, beginning at 7 p.m.; the award-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro arrived in Tulsa yesterday.

On Saturday morning, the author program featuring Kazuo Ishiguro will take place at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E 93rd St, in Connor’s Cove Theatre at 10:30 a.m.

Due to inclement weather, the ORU Christmas Concert scheduled for Friday night at the ORU Mabee Center has been canceled.

Due to inclement weather, the Virginia College Friends & Family Holiday Open House event scheduled for Saturday, December 7th has been canceled. We’ll let you know when the event has been rescheduled.

We have been closely monitoring the weather and after consulting with city officials the Arthritis Foundation has made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Jingle Bell Run/Walk.  Unfortunately, due to previously scheduled events and the holidays, the 2013 Tulsa Jingle Bell Run/Walk will not be rescheduled.

The SAT Test scheduled for 8am on December 7, 2013 at Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa, OK has been cancelled and rescheduled for 8am on December 21, 2013 at Nathan Hale High School. Students can check for further details.

The Ugly Sweater 5K was postponed until Saturday, December 21.

Meals on wheels a pretty on the ball group delivered an extra meal yesterday so that recipients would be sure to have one for today. Hooraay for meals on wheels.
