Water is back on in Okmulgee after work on a new connection at the Okmulgee water treatment plant failed, and the repair attempt failed.

According to city manager Bob Baxter, a good portion of the town was without water as they worked to fix the pipes.

He tells FOX23 it was expected to be an easy connection to make, but for some reason it failed.  Then their fix failed as well.  That's when they started notifying area businesses and residents.

The work was being done as part of a project to improve the water treatment plant.

Okmulgee is under a boil order, expected to last for the next few days.

I think its ridiculous. Myself, as well as many others have small children. My 6month old uses a bottle, &yes we can buy water, but than that takes away from our food bill. Even the bottled water isn't that cheap. They need to get their act together & figure this out.
