Water main breaks across the city happen sporadically, but FOX23 is looking into one break that was repaired and broke again in less than 48 hours.
Crews have worked to stop the water from leaking out of a giant hole on the corner. But all the mud and slush on the street is from what FOX23 learned is a recurring water fountain that's poured onto this street.
Before crews arrived, there was water bubbling out of the ground.
“This isn't near as bad as Sunday was,” said Joan West, she lives near the break.
She was on her way to work when she saw the new break, “I didn't realize it could break again so fast.”
And in the exact same spot city crews were working Sunday. West said crews were out for about nine hours.
“I looked outside and I said, ‘Oh my yard is flooding,” said West.
They had to cut off water to the entire block, which was a pain for her neighbor, Julie Sickles.
“They came out and repaired it Sunday so we had water and everything on Monday and then it broke again I guess,” said Sickles.
Crews told FOX23 a new valve was recently installed, but this time they're fixing an old pipe.
Either way people on the block behind Brookside are learning to prepare for what seems to be a frequent problem.
“I’ve been keeping drinking water because it’s winter and you never know but now it’s like I keep buckets of water just in case,” said Sickles.
Crews said Tuesday and Sunday the water did not need to be cut off for businesses and restaurants on Brookside.
