Students are expected to go back to school Thursday in Osage county.

They had to stay home Wednesday because of water pressure issues.

"Food isn't too hard but would like to have a good hot shower," said Pastor Bryson Sprague.

Sprague canceled Wednesday services because the church doesn't have any water.

FOX23 learned from Avant's utilities manager Bob Davis that a water leak and broken water pump caused the town to lose water Monday night.

It also caused the school district to close Wednesday.

"Without water it's, you know, it's a health hazard to have the children in the school," said Tammie Robinette, an Avant school board member.

The same thing happened in Prue.

FOX23 learned from the superintendent the water shut off around 3 Tuesday, right before a big basketball game.

"It would have been impossible for us to schedule a game at that time and we just had to make do," said Heath Kelley, Prue High School basketball coach.
